Halle Berry reveals she's distantly related to Sarah Palin

Of all the celebrities that Halle Berry could be related to, we never would have imagined she had a family connection to Sarah Palin.

The 48-year-old made the surprising reveal to Extra while she was promoting her new movie "Cloud Atlas," though the mom to 4-year-old Nahla didn't seem to know exactly how she was connected to the former Vice Presidential candidate.

"You wanna know who I'm related to? Sarah Palin!" Berry says during the interview. "In some twisted way... somebody sent me this information that she was my distant [relative]."

Apparently that's all in line with the themes of "Cloud Atlas." Berry's costar Tom Hanks teases during the interview that this is just proof that the movie touches on the truth.

"This is the 'Cloud Atlas' continuum without a doubt. I'm telling you, the connections that go through!" he jokes to Extra. "It doesn't matter who, what race, where, what time."

"Cloud Atlas" hits theaters on Oct. 26.
