George Wendt hospitalized with chest pains: 'Cheers' star forced to bow out of 'The Odd Couple' production
George Wendt , best known for playing beloved barfly Norm on "Cheers," was hospitalized Sunday (Oct. 29) after complaining of chest pains.
According to Timothy Evans, executive director of the Northlight Theatre in Skokie, a Chicago suburb where Wendt was set to star in a production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," the Second City comedian "is getting medical attention and will eventually make a full recovery."
Actor Marc Grapey, who was cast to play Murray, will replace Wendt as Oscar opposite "Saturday Night Live" alum Tim Kazurinsky's Felix. The play opens Nov. 9.
"All of us at Northlight wish George all the best for a speedy recuperation," said Evans.
Cheers to that!
