Lady Gaga shaved the back of her head in honor of Terry Richardson's mother

We've definitely heard of people shaving their heads bald to honor cancer victims, but of course, Lady Gaga doesn't do anything in the expected way. On Tuesday night, Gaga debuted her new hair style in a photo on Twitter. Gaga had part of the back of her head shaved in an angular design.

She wasn't just pulling an Avril or trying to upstage Miley's new hairstyle, though. The newly brunette Gaga wrote, "did it for u Terry. I'm sorry about ure mommy. She has princess die, but were all princess high."

She was referring to photographer friend Terry Richardson, whose mother Annie Lomax passed away this week. We're not sure what her cause of death was.

From the front, it's impossible to tell that Gaga shaved her head -- or, as she wrote, "But we still have glamour in the front. ARTPOP."
