Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson reconnect after Tom Cruise split: For real this time

Did anyone else just start hearing a faint Paula Cole song in the distance? Just us? Okay.

When Katie Holmes met Tom Cruise, she ceased all contact with her former "Dawson's Creek" co-stars, including on-screen soulmate and off-screen ex-boyfriend Joshua Jackson. She even changed her phone numbers and didn't update them, which probably totally didn't have anything to do with any weird Scientology rules or anything... totally.

Now that Holmes and Cruise have split, though, Holmes reached out to Jackson right away, sending our Pacey/Joey loving hearts sailing away on the True Love for a summer of celibacy soaring.

"Yeah, actually," Jackson admitted when asked if he'd heard from Holmes. "Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh, hi how are ya? What's going on?'; 'I had a kid.' ... It was very nice, actually."

Okay, so in real life, Jackson is very happily life-partnered-up with stunning beauty Diane Kruger, and Holmes probably has some issues she has to work out before she goes looking for love again. But our third-grade teacher told our parents that we had a troublingly overactive imagination, and we intend to use it, darn it.
