Johnny Lewis in child custody battle before his death - report

Johnny Lewis was waging a custody battle over his daughter before his death, E! Online reports .

According to E!, the "Sons of Anarchy" actor, who fell to his death from a roof after allegedly killing his 81-year-old landlady Wednesday (Sept. 26), was "heartbroken" over the custody battle for the child, born 2010.

He was not married to the toddler's mother.

Lewis is believed to have suffered a "psychotic break" earlier this year triggered by an unspecified drug.

His family insists that mental illness, not drugs, provoked his violent attack. f
