Gwen Stefani says No Doubt's hiatus was mainly her fault

no-doubt-new-album-gwen-stefani-pics-gi.jpgNo Doubt's first album in 11 years hits stores Tuesday (Sept. 25), and lead singer Gwen Stefani is willing to take the blame for the extended break.

"It's hard to schedule it," Stefani tells the Guardian of the band's difficulty to make time to record. "We're actually ahead of schedule -- lots of babies made, lots of stuff that we've done ... I think it was mainly my fault!"

In addition to her own two sons with husband, Gavin Rossdale, Stefani is likely referring to her solo career as the other "stuff" she's done during the band's hiatus. Though, she says that going out on her own wasn't a replacement for the band.

"It just feels so much more natural being back in this mode. The solo records allowed me to indulge my girly side but it was never meant to be taken seriously," she says. "It was just like an art project that kept going longer than I expected. The group never ended -- we always knew we'd come back to make this album."
