Demi Lovato and One Direction's Niall Horan dating? She says they're 'just friends'

Anyone hoping new "X Factor" judge Demi Lovato and One Direction's Niall Horan were shaping up to be music's new power couple won't be happy with Demi's answer about their relationship.

"There is nothing going on. Niall's my friend," Lovato told E! News at an "X Factor" junket. Yes, they had dinner after the VMAs at Los Angeles restaurant Pink Taco, but give her heart a break... they're just buds.

As for whether there's any special someone in her life right now, Lovato told E!, "I'm just focusing on my work right now, and that's pretty much that." With a hot single and a new gig on the heavily hyped second season of "X Factor" that's probably more than enough for any 20-year-old to handle.

As for the open question of who will host the new "X Factor" season, Lovato and fellow judge L.A. Reid agreed that they "really like" two of the shortlist finalists, but they're not saying which ones. (Though Lovato recently co-hosted the Teen Choice Awards with "Glee's" Kevin McHale, so that might be one hint.) Rest assured, whoever makes the cut is likely going to have their full support.
