'Conan': Bob Costas not a fan of NBC's Olympic closing ceremony coverage
Conan O'Brien asked Costas to assess NBC's efforts in London, and Costas had this to say: "I thought we were doing well headed to the finish line." Then, he notes, came the much-derided decision to interrupt the closing ceremony, just before The Who was set to perform.
"NBC decides at that moment they should provide America with a sneak preview of 'Animal Practice,' and then come back an hour later ... and check in on The Who," Costas says. "... So here is the balance NBC has to consider: The Who, 'Animal Practice.' Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend -- monkey in a lab coat. I'm sure you'd be the first to attest, Conan, that when it comes to the tough calls, NBC usually gets 'em right."
Zing! You can hear more of Costas' thoughts on the Olympics below; go here for his full interview from Wednesday's show.
