Rosie O'Donnell has a heart attack and tells fans via poetry
At the beginning of August, comedian Rosie O'Donnell posted a free-verse poem on her blog about her fiance Michelle Rounds' rare desmoid tumors diagnosis. And now on Monday (Aug. 20), O'Donnell waxed poetic about her own recent health scare."last week i had a heart attack," she writes in her all-lowercase style. "i had an ache in my chest/both my arms were sore/everything felt bruised."
She goes on to say that she felt nauseated, hot and clammy, which eventually led her to Google the symptoms -- but not call 911.
"50% of women having heart attacks never call 911," O'Donnell writes. "200,000 women die of heart attacks/every year in the US/by some miracle i was not one of them."
The following day, the comedian went to see a cardiologist who did an EKG and admitted her to the hospital to put in a stent.
"my LAD was 99% blocked/they call this type of heart attack/the Widow maker," she writes. "i am lucky to be here/know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore."
