Lindsay Lohan avoids prosecution for jewelry theft
Looks like Lindsay Lohan is off the hook -- this time. TMZ reports that the Los Angeles County District Attorney will not be prosecuting the "Liz & Dick" actress for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 in jewelry and sunglasses from Sam Magid's Hollywood home.According to the district attorney, there is insufficient evidence to charge Lohan, who has had a "longstanding relationship" with Magid. If you recall, the homeowner had reported on Aug. 20 that watches and sunglasses valued at more than $100,000 had been stolen from his home during a party, after which police interviewed Lohan and her assistant, Gavin Doyle, regarding the theft. Magid later recanted his story, but police proceeded with their investigation, officially naming Lohan a suspect on Monday (Aug. 27).
The district attorney rejected the case Tuesday, as Magid did not identify Lohan as a suspect and the "potential eyewitnesses have refused to become involved." Lohan's assistant will also avoid prosecution.
Lohan is currently serving "informal probation" until May 2014 for stealing a necklace from a jewelry store in January 2011.
