Joe Simpson arrested for DUI: Father of Jessica and Ashlee jailed

Jessica Simpson's omnipresent father, Joe Simpson, was arrested on last weekend for driving under the influence. TMZ reports that the 54-year-old was pulled over on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, CA, around 10 p.m.

Once officers realized he was intoxicated, they took him to jail, where he spent the night until he was released on his own recognizance at 9:41 a.m. the next morning.

Oddly, though the incident occurred nearly a week ago, criminal charges have not yet been filed, but if they are, Simpson is unlikely to spend any more time behind bars, since this is his first offense.

Simpson worked as a minister before becoming his daughters' manager.
