Candy Crowley is first female presidential debate moderator in 20 years
The Presidential Debate Commission announced the moderators for the three upcoming presidential debates and one vice presidential debate Monday (Aug. 13). CNN's Candy Crowley (above, middle) will be the first female moderator for a presidential debate since ABC's Carole Simpson was the first female (and first African-American) moderator 20 years ago.In addition to Crowley as moderator are PBS' Jim Lehrer (above, left) and CBS' Bob Schieffer, while ABC's Martha Raddatz will moderate the vice presidential between Vice President Biden and Rep. Paul Ryan, who was just announced as Governor Mitt Romney's running mate.
The four debates are as follows:
First Presidential Debate (domestic policy)
Wednesday, Oct. 3, University of Denver, Denver, Colo.
Moderator: Jim Lehrer
Vice Presidential Debate
Thursday, Oct. 11, Centre College, Danville, Ky.
Moderator: Martha Raddatz
Second Presidential Debate (town hall meeting-style)
Tuesday, Oct. 16, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
Third Presidential Debate (foreign policy)
Monday, Oct. 22, Lynn University, Boca Raton, Fla.
Moderator: Bob Schieffer
