Vera Wang and husband Arthur Becker separate

Designer Vera Wang is known for her sought-after wedding gowns, but the woman known for bringing an understated elegance to the inception of marriages announced on Wednesday (July 11) that she's ending her own 23-year marriage to Arthur Becker.

"Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate," reads a statement from Wang's company to WWD. "They remain devoted parents to their two daughters."

Wang and Becker married in 1989 shortly before the former Ralph Lauren accessories designer launched her own signature salon at New York's Carlyle Hotel. According to WWD, Becker was instrumental in helping Wang take her business from a bridal boutique to a multi-million dollar brand.

Becker resigned as CEO of NaviSite in 2010 to become more involved with Wang's day-to-day operations. It isn't yet clear how the divorce will affect the couple's business relationship.
