R Kelly ended his marriage because of 'The Notebook'

r-kelly-gi.jpg"The Notebook" is universally lauded as a movie that makes even the most cynical, cold-hearted humans believe in love. R. Kelly feels the same way -- unfortunately, it had a detrimental effect on his marriage. And no, it's not because he has a man crush on Ryan Gosling.

Kelly writes in his new memoir, "Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me," that the 2004 movie was responsible for his divorce from "Hollywood Exes" star Andrea. According to MTV, Kelly writes in the upcoming book that "as the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me."

He continues: "'The Notebook' was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together. But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine's Day -- when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses -- that had come and gone ... My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back."

Apparently, after the couple's fights got worse and worse, the Gosling movie gave Kelly an epiphany and the marriage never recovered. Kelly and Andrea had three kids during their marriage, which lasted from 1996 to 2009.
