Comic-Con 2012: 'Twilight' fan dies after being hit by car

comic-con-san-diego-convention-center-gi.jpgThe excitement of "Twilight" fans already in line for Thursday's (July 12) "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" panel at Comic-Con turned tragic Tuesday as a woman who had joined the queue early on was struck by a vehicle and killed in front of the San Diego Convention Center.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the 53-year-old woman, Gisella G. (as identified by the Examiner), had been in line for the panel since Sunday. She was reportedly running to keep her place in line after a trip to the store when she was hit by the 67-year-old driver of a Subaru Outback.

An ambulance transported the unconscious victim to the hospital where she died Tuesday morning.

Fans and other Comic-Con attendees have taken to Twitter with the hashtag #RIPTwiFanG to post their condolences for Gisella (@mad4hugh).

The accident comes on the heels of a request via Twitter from the official Comic-Con account, asking fans to not line up for Hall H until set up is complete.
