Box office: 'The Dark Knight Rises' prevails during Olympics fever

dark-knight-rises-batman-tablet.jpgNo surprise here -- "The Dark Knight Rises" will prevail at the box office for the second weekend in a row, earning an estimated $64 million for the weekend of July 27-29. The box office take wasn't as big as "TDKR's" first week of release, likely due to the 2012 Summer Olympics. Christian Bale or Ryan Lochte? It's a hard choice.

In second was the more family-friendly "Ice Age: Continental Drift" with just $13.3 million. New release "The Watch" managed to come in third place, earning $13 million, while the weekend's other major newbie, "Step Up Revolution," pulled in $11.8 million for fourth place. Rounding out the top 5 was the comedy "Ted" with $7.4 million.

Elsewhere in the top 10 were "The Amazing Spider-Man" with $6.8 million, "Brave" with $4.2 million, "Magic Mike" with $2.6 million, "Savages" with $1.7 million and "Moonrise Kingdom" with $1.4 million.

What did you see this weekend? Or did you stay in and watch the Olympics instead? (A totally acceptable substitution, by the way.)
