2012 Summer Olympics get a gorgeous BBC opening sequence

While NBC surely has plenty of pomp and circumstance planned for the U.S. coverage of the 2012 London Summer Olympics, the BBC's recently released animated intro for its broadcast of the Games is nothing short of gorgeous.

Between the sweeping shots of the British countryside and the soaring orchestral score, the one-minute promo (the full version is nearly three minutes long) certainly puts one in a patriotic, competitive mood.

Check out the video, which features animated cyclists, swimmers, runners, gymnasts, boxers, divers, rowers, weight lifters and more incredible athletes doing their thing in London. According to Deadline, this is what will play before all of the BBC's broadcast and online coverage.
