Watch the Transit of Venus 2012 online: Last time in 100 years

On Tuesday (June 5), the Transit of Venus -- in which the planet Venus inches its way across the face of the Sun -- will be visible from earth for the last time in more than 100 years. It'll be best-viewed from the West Coast at just after 3 p.m. PT, but fear not -- even if you're stuck back East, you can watch online from the comfort of your own computer.

NASA will be streaming a view of the Transit from the top of the Mauna Kea observatory in Hawaii starting at 5:45 p.m. ET on Tuesday. And, really, it's the best way to watch -- not only will you be able to see an unimpeded view of Venus, you won't have to concern yourself building a safe backyard viewer.
