'That's My Boy's' Adam Sandler wears shorts to embarrass his kids
Adam Sandler may be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but the actor admits worldwide super-stardom doesn't prevent him from embarrassing his kids -- Sadie, 6, and Sunny, 4 -- on a regular basis.
"I wear shorts a lot," Sandler tells Zap2It at a press conference for his new movie, "That's My Boy." on Saturday (June 2) in Beverly Hills. "My kids want me to wear pants when I take them to school. They say, 'Can you just one time wear pants?' And every time I get out of the car, I look down, and I'm like, 'I got those f***ing shorts on.'"
In the film, due in theaters June 15, Sandler takes on the role of Donny, a cash-strapped father, who fell from grace after rising to fame in his teen years. Out to earn enough to cover the money he owes in back taxes, Donny seeks reunion with his overachieving and estranged son, Todd, played by Andy Samberg, which proves more than humiliating for junior.
If there's anything Sandler shares with his character it's an understanding of the unforgiving wrath of youth. Unfortunately for his two kids, the star doesn't seem to be phased enough to mend his ways or his clothes.
"They yell at me," he explains. "I'm gettin' older. That happens when you get older. I'm definitely at that age, where I don't care too much, but I gotta think about that."
"My father used to wear the same pants, like, for a week," he continues." And I remember that was like, 'Holy s*** my friends have been over three times this week and they've seen him in the brown pants. Please convince this guy to put on blue pants.' I'm sure I'll be that guy."
