An art thief pulled off a coup on Tuesday (June 19) when he walked out a Manhattan art gallery carrying a $150,000 Salvador Dali painting titled "Cartel de Don Juan Tenorio."Police are searching for a thin balding man who was captured on security tapes casually pulling the small painting off the wall of the third-floor gallery and stuffing it into a black shopping bag. He then calmly took the elevator down the ground floor and disappeared into Manhattan, reports the New York Daily News.
"Cartel des Don Juan Tenorio" is an 11-inch watercolor produced by the Spanish surrealist in 1949 was part of the inaugural exhibition at the Venus Over Manhattan art gallery, which only opened in May.
In July 2011, a man strolled into a San Francisco art gallery and heisted a Picasso drawing in much the same way.
