sam-l-jackson.jpgThe "RoboCop" remake has added to its star-studded cast. Samuel L. Jackson has just signed on for the film that's tentatively slated for a Summer 2013 release.

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Jackson will play Pat Novak, a high-powered TV executive who is very active in the RoboCop world. Jackson joins Joel Kinnaman, who will play the title character, and Gary Oldman, who is confirmed to play the creator of the cyborg.

The film, which is based on the 1987 movie starring Peter Weller, will be directed by Jose Padilha. It's reportedly looking to start filming in September in Toronto.

The "RoboCop" franchise has been quite successful through the years. The initial film spawned two sequels, a TV series, cartoons, comic books and video games.
