Phillies mascot sued for injuring a woman at the Jersey Shore

The Phillie Phanatic is a pretty energetic (and bizarre) creature for a baseball team mascot, but a Pennsylvania woman didn't quite fall under its spell in 2010. She's suing the furry green creature for inflicting severe, permanent injuries after tossing her into a pool.

According to the New York Post, Abington, Penn. resident Suzanne Peirce says the Phanatic was "'engaging in various antics' during a comic routine by the pool when he picked her and the lounge [chair she was sitting in] up and threw her into the shallow end," severely injuring her head, neck, back, body, arms, legs, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and tissues.

A rep for the baseball team says the club doesn't think the Phanatic acted wrongly, but Peirce is suing Tom Burgoyne, Matt Mehler and anyone else who might've been playing the mascot on the day of the incident.

The Phanatic is known for interacting goofily with crowds.
