Penny Marshall tricked out of over $5K by Lamar Odom's fake assistant

Poor Penny Marshall just got burned for being a nice person. She was the victim of a scam at a Lakers game last month when a man who said he was Lamar Odom's assistant gave her Odom's digits.

According to TMZ, Penny was texting with fake Lamar for days, until he asked her to loan his assistant some money. Marshall gave him over five thousand dollars. A generous gesture, except it wasn't real.

Marshall contacted the real Odom after the texts stopped. Odom told her he doesn't even have an assistant. The police have opened a grand theft investigation. Such a shame when people get taken advantage of just for being nice.
