Lady Gaga poses as Marilyn Monroe to celebrate late icon's birthday

Lady Gaga wishes Marilyn Monroe a happy birthday on what would have been the blond bombshell's 86th on Friday (June 1) by tweeting a black-and-white picture of herself donning Monroe's signature curls, arched brows and red lipstick.

"#HappyBirthdayMarilyn They'll never take our blonde hair and lipstick," Gaga tweets.

Monroe died on Aug. 5, 1962 at the age of 36 from what was deemed a "probable suicide," and nearly 50 years later, her influence can still be felt on pop culture.
