Jim Carrey blasts Jenny McCarthy and says he loves her son Evan

Jenny McCarthy says that Jim Carrey basically disappeared from her austistic son, Evan's, life when the couple split. But now Carrey is speaking out and he says that he not only loves Evan, but has the 10-year-old's best interests in mind.

Carrey and McCarthy broke up in 2010 after five years of dating in which Evan and Carrey grew close. But McCarthy says that all ended when their relationship fell apart, telling Howard Stern on Monday (June 4) that she even tried to contact Carrey multiple times to see Evan. And, she says, Evan was forced to go into therapy to deal with the loss of Carrey in his life.

On Wednesday, Carrey finally broke his silence.

"I will always do what I believe is in the best interest of Evan's well being," he says in a statement to media outlets. "It's unfortunate that Evan's privacy is not being considered. I love Evan very much and will miss him always."
