Ginsu knives guru Barry Becher dies at 71
Barry Becher, the original infomercial pitchman and the mastermind behind introducing us to Ginsu knives, died Friday (June 22) at the age of 71, according to the AP. But wait! There's more! (A phrase made famous by Becher and actually what his family is considering putting on his gravestone).
Becher had been suffering from kidney cancer and died from complications from surgery, his stepdaughter Stacy told the press.
For years, Becher worked alongside Ed Valenti. They found products, renamed them and popularized them via their mesmerizing infomercials. The duo has said they accounted for more than $500 million in sales. Ginsu is their most widely-known product, but they also pitched the Miracle Painter, the Miracle Slicer and Armourcote Cookware.
