David Simon: 'The Wire: The Musical' is 'hilarious'

For a man who has created such gripping tales as "Generation Kill" and "Homicide: Life on the Street," it looks like David Simon has a pretty good sense of humor too.

In response to the recent Funny or Die parody "The Wire: The Musical," Simon says on his website that the video is "hilarious." The clip features former cast members Michael Kenneth Williams, Larry Gillard Jr., Andre Royo, Felicia Pearson and Sonja Sohn doing a send up of the award-winning HBO show.

"I woke up this morning to an email from Michael K Williams with this video linked. Hilarious. Just great," Simon writes. "Felicia [Pearson]'s turn alone is worth the time. Ya hair look good, Snoop.

He continues, "Someone hand me a burner and Sondheim's number."
