Big Sean: Justin Bieber's a 'rich playboy' doing his thing
Why work with Justin Bieber if you're a rising hip-hop artist already endorsed by Kanye West -- one of the biggest stars in the music world?
"He's young, doing his thing. He's a good person," Big Sean tells Zap2It. "I met him, I personally know him. I think he's a cool person. He's a young guy out here. Rich playboy. Getting his money, doing what he wants to do, you know? You can't hate on that. You can't knock that."
The G.O.O.D. Music rapper is featured on Bieber's latest single, "As Long As You Love Me," released Monday (June 11), and was out in Hollywood the same night supporting his other friends in the game, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, at a screening of their new project, "Mac & Devin Go to High School."
According to Big Sean, he has a few things in common with pop music's hottest young talent.
"I'm a Detroit player," he says. "I'm somebody that dreamed big. Showed my city it was real. I came from nothing, I came from super lower middle class, you know, and in a matter of a few years, I was buying my mom a new house, buying new cars, and doing tracks with my idols -- people who I always looked up to and wondered if I could even meet. It's a dream come true."
Of course, even for a Kanye West disciple, fame comes with a flipside.
"It's just different. I lost a lot of my best friends," he says." A lot of people turned on me, and stuff like that. I learned a lot growing up that's made me a man. You know different lawsuits, different things like that. It's all great though, you know, if you don't take your bad situations and use them as teachers, then you're not doing it right, man."
