Amanda Bynes pleads not guilty to DUI charge
Despite a last-minute plea to President Barack Obama to help her out of what she claims is a trumped-up DUI arrest, Amanda Bynes appeared in court on Wednesday (June 6) to officially enter a not guilty plea to charges that she was driving while intoxicated back in April, reports TMZ.Bynes was arrested on April 6 after clipping a cop car with her BMW in Hollywood. The "What I Like About You" star refused to submit to a breathalyzer or blood test, so it was never determined whether or not Bynes was, in fact, under the influence.
And, Bynes has taken to Twitter to lobby on her own behalf and proclaim her innocence. On Tuesday, she tweeted a message to President Obama asking him to "fire the cop who arrested me."
A few days earlier, Bynes tweeted, "I can't help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me. I was not in any hit and runs. I don't drink so the DUI is false."
If Bynes is found guilty, she faces a minimum sentence of 48 hours in jail, which TMZ says would likely be closer to just a few hours because of jail overcrowding.
