2012 NBA Finals: LeBron James and Miami Heat win the championship
After seven years of carrying his team in Cleveland and never earning an NBA championship, LeBron James finally has his ring. He and fellow Miami Heat stars, including Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the 2012 NBA Finals 121-106 to win LeBron's first title.
The Thunder put up a valiant effort in games one through four - they won Game 1 and then only lost Games 2 through 4 by a combined total of 16 points. But the Heat proved too much for them in Game 5, as the Heat took a 10-point lead into halftime and then stretched that to a 24-point lead by the end of the third quarter.
Oklahoma City's superstar Kevin Durant had 32 points and 11 rebounds, which led all scorers and tied for most rebounds with LeBron. But it was not enough Thursday night (June 21). The Thunder are young, though - they'll be back in the finals.
Congratulations to the Miami Heat and LeBron James on their title.
