'Tanorexic' doll based on tanning mom retails for $29.95

tanning-mom-tanorexic-doll.jpgPatricia Krentcil, a New Jersey mother, has been in the news lately because she is accused of child endangerment for allegedly causing skin burns on her 5-year-old daughter in a tanning booth. Krentcil claims her daughter got the sunburns outside.

The heavily-tanned Krentcil quickly went viral online, even drawing a parody from "Saturday Night Live's" Weekend Update. Now a Connecticut novelty action figure company called HeroBuilders has started selling a "tanorexic" doll based on Krentcil, the "tanning mom."

Emil Vicale, the president of HeroBuilders, tells the AP, "We thought it was a funny thing to do" because everybody has friends who are heavily into tanning. Well ... we don't personally have any friends who do that, but we don't live in New Jersey.

The doll, pictured above, retails for $29.95. Or, if the blonde-haired one isn't to your liking, you can custom order your very own action figure.
