Floyd Mayweather to begin jail sentence June 1
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in less than a month. The boxer, who won the junior middleweight title on May 5, will check into jail on Friday (June 1) the AP is reporting.The three-month sentence follows a guilty plea from Mayweather for a 2010 attack on his ex-girlfriend Josie Harris. In addition to the sentence, Mayweather must also complete domestic violence counseling and 100 hours of community service as well as pay a $2,500 fine.
The multi-time champ was initially to begin his time behind bars Jan. 6, but he got a reprieve so that he could complete his obligations and fight Miguel Cotto. Mayweather, 35, earned $32 million for the bout.
The boxer will stay at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. He will reportedly be held in a separate area of the lock up for his protection.
