Scotty McCreery is N.C. State-bound for college

"American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery has been having a big couple of days. He won New Artist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 1, and now he has announced where he plans to attend college in the fall - North Carolina State University, his dad's alma mater. McCreery is actually pictured here, left, after singing the National Anthem for an N.C. State football last October.

McCreery told CMT Radio's Cody Allen in an interview, "There were a lot of good schools in Nashville, but I've decided to head down to Raleigh where my dad went to college at North Carolina State, at least for two years, and maybe transfer to Nashville then. I'm excited. I've got some boys going there and some friends. We'll have a good time."

Before heading off to college, though, McCreery will be continuing his tour opening for country star Brad Paisley.
