Ryan O'Neal has Stage 2 prostate cancer - not Stage 4

ryan-oneal-and-farrah-fawcett.jpgRyan O'Neal (pictured above with daughter Tatum O'Neal), "Love Story" star and longtime companion to the late Farrah Fawcett, has amended his initial announcement about his prostate cancer diagnosis. He has been diagnosed with Stage 2 prostate cancer, not Stage 4, as he initially said.

While it's still cancer and obviously cancer is bad all the way around, Stage 2 is a more positive outlook, as the higher the numbers go, the worse the cancer is. O'Neal also says in his statement that his prognosis is looking good for a full recovery.

This is O'Neal's second go-round with cancer. He was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in 2001, but that went into remission in 2006.

O'Neal's diagnosis comes just three years after he lost Fawcett to cancer at the age of 62. He has a new memoir about his life with Farrah coming out May 1 titled "Both of Us."
