Monkees star Davy Jones died from heart attack, autopsy confirms

davy-jones-2011-getty.jpgThe results of the autopsy for Monkees member Davy Jones reveal the TV/pop star died of a heart attack.

The Associated Press reports that Jones, who died on Feb. 29, suffered from severe build-up in his arteries. A toxicology report did show that Jones did have cannabinoids, a class of drug that includes marijuana, in his system. But the report states that this had no role in his death.

The 66-year-old Jones rocketed to stardom on the TV show "The Monkees," which ran from 1966-68. With the band, he recorded such hits as "Last Train to Clarksville," "I'm a Believer" and "Daydream Believer."

Jones is survived by his wife and four daughters.
