Miss Dominican Republic: Carlina Duran is married and now dethroned

Uh oh. Miss Dominican Republic Carlina Duran, was dethroned on Tuesday after organizers found out that she'd been married in 2009. Magali Febles, the organizer of the Miss Dominican Republic Universe competition since 2004 made the decision.

According to AP, organizers awarded the title to the first runner-up, 24-year-old Dulcita Lieggi. Duran owns a spa in Santo Domingo and comes from the town of La Vega. Rules say no contestant can have been married or have had a child.

Dominican newspaper Diario Libre reported on its websitethat a marriage license showed she was wed on June 6, 2009. Duran hasn't commented on the allegations. Considering all the changes in beauty contests, should marital status matter? Let us know what you think.
