Dick Clark death certificate reveals prostate surgery prior to heart attack

According to his death certificate, Dick Clark underwent prostate surgery on April 17, the day before he died from a heart attack, reports TMZ.

The certificate also confirms the cause of death as acute myocardial infarction, the technical term for a heart attack. Clark additionally suffered from coronary artery disease and acute urinary retention caused by a benign prostatic hyperplasia, the condition for which he had surgery.

Prior to the heart attack, Clark had been dealing with health issues for years, including type 2 diabetes and a stroke in 2004.

Clark died on April 18 at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica.
