Dan Savage upsets Christian high school journalists
Christian high school students are not too happy with Dan Savage after the author told teenagers gathered at the National High School Journalist Conference in Seattle that "We can learn to ignore the bull---t in the Bible about gay people."The Huffington Post reports that Savage said as several students walked out of the speech (one apparently crying), "It's funny, as someone who's on the receiving end of beatings that are justified by the Bible, how pansy-assed some people react when you push back."
The executive director of gay conservative group GOProud called for Savage's apology, saying, "Dan Savage should apologize for his comments and should apologize to the high school students in attendance whom he called 'pansy-asses.' It is ironic that someone whose claim to fame is fighting bullying would resort to bullying tactics in attacking high school students who were offended by his remarks."
Savage, who started the "It Gets Better" campaign, didn't apologize for what he said, but did say he was sorry if he hurt anyone.
