Box office: 'The Pirates! Band of Misfits' surge into second while 'The Five-Year Engagement' falls behind

leper-pirates.jpg"The Pirates! Band of Misfits" proved they're not the outsiders they claim to be as the stop-motion animated movie surged into second place at the box office the weekend of April 27-29. The movie earned $11.4 million, coming in behind "Think Like a Man's" second weekend at the top with $18 million. Meanwhile, the Judd Apatow-produced "The Five-Year Engagement" fell into fifth place.

"The Five-Year Engagement" earned $11.1 million, just short of "The Lucky One's" $11.3 million and "The Hunger Games'" $11.2 million. Rounding out the Top 10 were new releases "Safe" ($7.7 million) and "The Raven" ($7.2 million), with "Chimpanzee" ($5.5 million), "The Three Stooges" ($5.4 million) and "The Cabin in the Woods" ($4.5 million) following behind.

It was a disappointing opening for "Engagement," but a pleasant surprise for "Pirates." What did you see this weekend?
