RIP B.I.G.: Remembering Biggie Smalls on the 15th anniversary of his death

biggie-gi.jpgThe Twitter-sphere is blowing up Friday (March 9) with #RIPBIG, marking the 15th anniversary of rapper Biggie Smalls' untimely death.

The Notorious B.I.G. (aka Christopher Wallace) released only one album -- "Ready to Die" in 1994 -- before he was gunned down in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997 by a man in a black Chevrolet Impala while Smalls was stopped at a traffic light with his entourage. "Life After Death," B.I.G.'s second album, was released posthumously the same month. His murder remains unsolved, though some have theorized that Marion "Suge" Knight may have been responsible.

Fans are pouring out their thoughts on the late rapper on Twitter, including this little gem from an unlikely fan -- the AARP:

Some folks got their dates mixed up, though, seeing the Notorious B.I.G. trends and wishing the late rapper a happy birthday instead -- like rapper Timbaland, who after the mix-up tweeted, "My fault I meant #RIPBIG ipad trippin."
