Richard Gere confuses 'Pretty Woman' with 'Wall Street'
It seemed to be common knowledge that "Pretty Woman" was about romanticizing the fictional options available to a Hollywood hooker. But, according to star Richard Gere, it was actually about glorifying corporate greed."It made those guys seem dashing, which was so wrong," Gere tells Women's Day. "Thankfully, today, we are all more skeptical of those guys."
Admittedly, Gere's memory of the whole "Pretty Women" experience, which he calls his "least favorite thing" -- which catapulted Julia Roberts into stardom -- is a bit hazy. Perhaps deliberately so.
"People ask me about that movie, but I've forgotten it," Gere says. "That was a silly romantic comedy."
