iPad 3 announcement coming Wednesday from San Francisco
The iPad 3 is expected to be unveiled Wednesday (March 7) during a live press conference that Apple announced will be taking place at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET at the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts in San Francisco. ABC News will be live-blogging the whole thing, if you are not able to watch yourself. The new iPad is rumored to have a higher resolution screen (as high as 2048x1536 resolution, which is four times higher than the iPad 2); faster data speeds, as the iPad 3 will have both Verizon and AT&T versions that are 4G compatible (of course, Wi-Fi-only versions will also probably be available for about $120 less than the 4G-compatible versions); faster processing speeds with the new A6 processor; the voice-controlled feature Siri that currently comes on the iPhone; and an 8-megapixel camera.
Sounds pretty fancy. The current version of the iPad 2 that retails for the most money is the Wi-Fi+3G and 64GB of storage, at $829.99. We don't know if that will be the price for the iPad 3 with all the bells and whistles, but with the 4G capability, it may run higher.
For all the details, keep an eye on the ABC News live blog.
