Ian Somerhalder and Uggie: True love at the Genesis Awards

Listen... sometimes you just need to stare at a whole bunch of photos of a hot dude in a suit snuggling an adorable dog. In those times of need, "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder lives to serve.

Usually, Somerhalder tries to keep his love life under wraps, but we know exactly who he was making out with on Saturday night: Uggie, the dog from "The Artist."

Somerhalder, Uggie, and fellow celebs like Sophia Bush, Kristin Bauer, and Wilmer Valderramma attended the Genesis Awards for the Humane Society of the United States at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on March 24.

Somerhalder was honored with the Wyler Award for his tireless work in animal advocacy through the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. "The tireless efforts of The Humane Society of the United States to protect animals around the world has always been an inspiration to me and I'm honored to be recognized with this year's Wyler Award," he says.

The award for Hollywood outreach has previously been given to Sir Paul McCartney, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Hayden Panettiere, and Kristin Davis.
