'Hunger Games' new clip: Jennifer Lawrence shows off Katniss' marksmanship
"The Hunger Games" premieres March 23, but you don't have to wait till then to catch a glimpse of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen showing off her archery skills in this brand-new clip released Thursday (March 1).
The scene gives hope to lovers of the novel that the movie will adhere closely to the book. In it, Katniss turns her arrow on the crowd of Gamemakers, who aren't paying attention to her during the evaluation at the training center. And attention is definitely what she gets -- from Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley).
The clip premiered on "The Hunger Games" Facebook page, where author Suzanne Collins also had this to say about the film adaptation:
"I'm really happy with how it turned out. I feel like the book and the film are individual yet complementary pieces that enhance one another. The film opens up the world beyond Katniss' point of view. ... Director Gary Ross has created an adaptation that is faithful in both narrative and theme, but he's also brought a rich and powerful vision of Panem, its brutality and excesses, to the film as well. ... The cast, led by the extraordinary Jennifer Lawrence, is absolutely wonderful across the board. It's such a pleasure to see how they've embodied the characters and brought them to life."
We can't wait for the premiere. What do you think of the clip?
