Chloe Moretz is the new 'Carrie': Prep the pig's blood!

chloe-moretz-gi.jpgChloe Moretz is only 15, but the actress hes already made a name for herself as the go-to girl for tough teenagers. Now, she'll change things up a little bit as the shy, bullied teen-turned-telepathic killer Carrie White in the new movie adaptation of the Stephen King novel "Carrie."

Every hot young actress in Hollywood was reportedly after the role, but Deadline reports director Kim Peirce met with Moretz and offered her the role right away. The deal isn't officially signed yet, but once it is the casting search will continue in an attempt to find Carrie's mom.

The title role was originally (and memorably) played by Sissy Spacek in the 1976 film about a shy teen with a religious fanatic mother who fights back against her bullies on prom night. (Pig's blood, etc -- you know the drill.) The bullying storyline seems especially topical nowadays. Plus, it's got Oscar clout -- Spacek and Piper Laurie, who played her mother, were both nominated for Academy Awards for their roles.

MGM and Screen Gems are producing the remake.
