Box Office: 'The Lorax' easily wins Friday with $17.4 million

It only seems appropriate that, on what would have been his 108th birthday, a Dr. Seuss movie lead the Friday (March 2) box office. "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" was tops at the gate delivering an impressive haul of $17.4 million.

The film, which features the voices of Danny DeVito, Zac Efron and Taylor Swift, easily beat the competition. Coming in second was the teen party romp "Project X" with $8.2 million while "Act of Valor" came in third with just under $4 million.

Rounding out the top five were "Safe House" with $1.9 million while "The Vow" and "Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" tied at $1.85 million.
