'21 Jump Street's' Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum on making it in Hollywood

While the cult television drama series, "21 Jump Street," brought Johnny Depp to stardom in the '80s, it's been reborn as an adventure comedy on the big screen, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

A mismatch made in comedic heaven, the twosome strolled the red carpet together at the film's Los Angeles premiere Tuesday (March 13).

Asked what it was like to be the current It-guys in Hollywood, Tatum and Hill laughed.

"I don't know, is that true?" replies Tatum. "I've got a list of people I want to work with."

The leads were accompanied at the event by their cast mates, including Ice Cube, Brie Larson and Ellie Kemper.

Tatum executive-produced the movie, which Hill co-wrote and also executive-produced. It's a tale of two cops, hired for their youthful looks, who pose as high school kids in order to obtain the necessary info to bust local druggies. The age may be a harder sell for Tatum, whose striking silhouette brought him into the limelight in the first place. Yet the odd couple becomes a perfect centerpiece for this bizarre milieu in a classic tale revisited nearly 25 years later.

How hard was it for the co-stars to make it in the big leagues? Very.

"It's hard for anyone to break in," Tatum remarks.

Adds Hill, "It's hard to break in, it's hard to stay in...You feel like you're climbing a glass wall. You feel like you're just always sliding down."
