Whitney Houston cause of death: Possible prescription drugs, possibly still unknown - reports

whitney-obit-3.jpgNaturally in the aftermath of a huge celebrity death, there are rumors and reports about various things. On Sunday night (Feb. 12), news broke that there was water found in the lungs of the late Whitney Houston, which jibes with her reportedly being found in the bathtub. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office would only say that foul play is not suspected.

Now early Monday morning, TMZ is reporting that family sources say Houston's family members were told by the L.A. County Coroner officials that the singer died from a combination of Xanax, other prescription drugs and alcohol, and that there wasn't enough water in her lungs for Houston to have drowned.

These family sources also say that it was Houston's aunt Mary Jones who found the late singer in the bathtub and that Houston's body may be flown back to Atlanta for the funeral as early as Tuesday.

However, in regards to cause of death, the Associated Press is reporting that L.A. County Coroner officials will not know anything certain for weeks, pending the toxicology results.

We would imagine it will be weeks before any official announcement is made.
