Tony Bennett reacts to Whitney Houston's death: 'Legalize drugs'

As we reported earlier, Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash turned into an impromptu wake after guests learned of the death of 48-year-old singer Whitney Houston just hours earlier.

Tony Bennett, who performed at the gala, had an unexpected reaction, though, to Houston's death when he publicly called for the legalization of drugs.

"First it was Michael Jackson, then Amy Winehouse, now, the magnificent Whitney Houston," Bennett said from the stage. "I'd like every person in this room to campaign to legalize drugs."

"Let's legalize drugs like they did in Amsterdam," he continued. "No one's hiding or sneaking around corners to get it. They go to a doctor to get it."

Houston had a long and well-documented struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.
