Tariq, Michaele Salahi, Journey's 'Resonate' video and a lawsuit
This just in from the Weird News desk. Tariq Salahi (remember - the White House party crasher and "Real Housewives of DC" star) is suing Journey guitarist Neal Schon for $50 million, following the release of Journey's "Resonate" video which stars Salahi's estranged wife Michaele Salahi (also of the White House party crashing).
Michaele left Tariq back in September and has since taken up with Schon. The "Resonate" video shows Michele and Neal frolicking on a beach, in the style of "From Here to Eternity" as imagined by a Guess ad from 1989.
Tariq is suing Schon for intentional infliction of emotional distress, conspiracy to defame and interfering with a contract, claiming that when Michaele ran off with Schon, Tariq lost his offer to be on the Australian "Dancing With the Stars."
According to TMZ, Tariq is also claiming that Schon emailed him photos of his penis and called him to tell him things like, "I'm f****** your wife."
In the lawsuit, Tariq calls that a "metaphorical slap in the face."
We're glad it wasn't an literal slap in the face.
Tariq has also released the following statement:
"I am hurt by my wife's participation in the new Journey music video. I am also very troubled that the rock band Journey is now promoting my wife's affair with Neal Schon. I am especially upset and disappointed that they would release this video on Valentine's Day. This day is meant to celebrate lifetime love and commitments, not celebrate those who cheat and abandon their marriages or lifetime commitments."
Weird. Meanwhile, the song "Resonate" came out like nine months ago. The band is calling the release of the video a Valentine's Day gift to fans.
